DIY My small home solar power system

A brief layout of my solar system that I added to my small house. This house is still hooked up to the grid. I use it to run all the lights in my home and the tv, every day. I am able to run anything up to 1000 watts if needed

@seetherage Yes I do plan on expanding…This charge controller can handle up to 2 more 80 watt panels, more than t hat will damage it, so sooner or later I’m gonna need a larger charge controller, and more batts of course. A pair of these batts per panel works out well.,but when yer talkin batts, there’s always room for more.

@Pierre5484 MSW. One of these days though….

@hermancando wont last?? Mine is ran the same way using eversmart walmart batteries 405ah total and going on 4 years, the mppt and trimetric help extend the bat life, plus deep cycle batteries can handle it. Come on man, he has good set up.

  9. Pierre5484 says:

What kind of inverter is that- Modified Sine wave or Pure Sine wave?

  10. hermancando says:

are the batteries venting in your home—or are you slamming the door on the extension cords—

  11. hermancando says:

sorry man didnt mean to be insulting—just and observation—-

@hermancando hard to believe you’re that smart, but thanx anyway. i love yer channel by the way. lots of good information there….

  13. hermancando says:

hard to believe your runnig all that on 160 watts. the batteries are being over worked and wont last sorry.

Do you have any plans to install more panels on your system + more bats; and how much savings do you think you are getting from it?

By the way, your system is by far one of the cleanest home made setups I have ever seen . props!

Free Energy is real but the coverup is strong, if you are interested in a REAL free energy machine then

just search for the LT MAGNET MOTOR in the youtube video search , it is probably the ONLY working magnet

motor out there. Join the free energy revolution!!

@kricotas Nice job Dave. Very well explained. Please see my wind turbine and solar video’s.

Had one charging our electric Toyota RAV.
Never paid for any power for 4 years.

@RepublicanDumbAss I agree. That and the constant monitoring and chance of lightning storms and whatnot knocking out the system.

Very cool! I suppose you have a new respect for how much electricity your home appliances use! I added a 12 volt battery backup system to light my house in case of power failure. It uses motorhome lights in unobtrusive places on the walls and ceilings. I got rid of the automotive bulbs and put in LED light arrays inside. $20 bucks each but my amps went from 6 down to 2. The lights last 3 times longer on the same batteries. Being a smart*ss I like to vacuum my house during power outages!

what will a little £6 multimeter tell me, im in the uk so its about $9.37 over there.

Very nicely done. So you use Romex from the solar panel into your house? I was trying to think of the best way to wire my system and I was thinking this might work. Currently I have 1 panel (60 watt peak) and will build a second one. Would you use romex outside?

  23. azul054 says:

    Two questions.
1: What was the total cost for everything?
2: What type of vacuum do you have that it does not allow you to run?

1000w inverter isn’t small? When you runn the microwave and television together? I have 750w microwave and when the fridge kicks in I don’t it will be able to supply others devices as TV etc… How many of them can run at onece (and how they are rated, I mean in watts) ?

    I enjoying your videos.

How is the blue sky controller is holding up?

I’m thinking about getting a blue sky for myself.

    Keep making those great videos.
